Portrait of Louis XIV in Coronation Robes was created in 1701 by the French artist Hyacinthe Rigaud, following a commission from the king. Louis XIV aimed to fulfill the wish of his grandson, Philip V of Spain, for a portrait. The artwork was displayed at Versailles and has since become the most iconic representation of the king.
